The fourth part of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War will officially premiere in Japan on July 25, 2026 at 11 p.m. on TV Tokyo and other partner channels. Streaming will then begin internationally on Disney+, while Hulu will offer the series in the United States. VIZ Media announces an international online release starting July 25 at 2:30 p.m. UTC.
This ultimate season bears the Japanese title Bleach: Sennen Kessen-hen – Kashin-tan, officially translated into English as The Calamity. It constitutes the fourth cour of the adaptation of the Thousand-Year Blood War and is set to conclude the main story of the Bleach anime.
Weeks before the television broadcast, the first three episodes of this final part received early screenings in several Japanese cinemas, followed by a limited event in the United States. These premieres confirm that the production of the final cour was already well underway before its launch.
However, the total number of episodes has not yet been officially specified. The first three parts each consisted of thirteen or fourteen episodes, but an announcement from the production will be needed to know the exact duration of The Calamity.
What does the title The Calamity mean?
The title The Calamity perfectly reflects the situation in which the Bleach universe finds itself.

Where will the story pick up?
The third part, titled The Conflict, ended in a particularly worrying situation. Yhwach absorbed the Soul King's power and established himself as a practically invincible entity. Thanks to his ability called The Almighty, he can observe numerous possible futures and alter events to his advantage.
The Royal Palace has been profoundly transformed, giving rise to a new battlefield where the Shinigami must now confront the last members of the Quincy elite. Ichigo, Orihime, Chad, and Ganju continue their advance, while Uryu Ishida remains at the heart of a conflict pitting his Quincy origins against his friendship with Ichigo.
The various groups are separated, and several clashes have already begun. The story is therefore expected to jump straight into the ongoing battles. The official synopsis revealed for the beginning of the final cour notably highlights the confrontation between the Gotei 13 captains and Gerard Valkyrie, as well as Yoruichi's intervention against Askin Nakk Le Vaar.
Ichigo vs. Yhwach: The Decisive Battle
Since the beginning of the Thousand-Year Blood War, everything seems to lead to a final confrontation between Ichigo Kurosaki and Yhwach.
The two characters are deeply connected. Ichigo possesses Shinigami powers, Hollow, Fullbringer, and Quincy. His mother, Masaki Kurosaki, herself belonged to the Quincy people. This origin makes Ichigo one of the few characters capable of understanding and uniting the different spiritual forces present in the Bleach universe.
Yhwach, however, represents a threat of a completely different level. His power is not solely based on his physical strength or the power of his spiritual energy. The Almighty allows him to anticipate his opponents' actions and directly intervene in the futures he observes.
To defeat an enemy capable of changing destiny, Ichigo will not simply be able to rely on a more powerful Getsuga Tensho. The battle should also rely on his allies, on the limits of Yhwach's power, and on Ichigo's ability to fully accept all facets of his identity.
The main visual for the final part emphasizes this duel. It shows a wounded Ichigo, surrounded by his Zanpakutō, while Yhwach dominates the scene from above. This composition announces a confrontation that is physical, symbolic, and deeply personal.
What role will Uryu Ishida play?
Uryu Ishida is probably the character whose role remains the most difficult to predict for viewers unfamiliar with the manga.
At the beginning of the Thousand-Year Blood War, Uryu joins the Wandenreich and receives the letter A, associated with his Schrift Antithesis. Yhwach then designates him as his successor, a decision that causes distrust among some of the Sternritter, notably Jugram Haschwalth.
However, Uryu's true intentions remain ambiguous for a long time. Has he truly betrayed Ichigo? Is he trying to destroy the Wandenreich from within? Can he still return to his friends after accepting Yhwach's power?

Gerard Valkyrie vs the Captains
Gerard Valkyrie possesses the power of The Miracle. The closer he seems to defeat, the more his power increases. Injuries and desperate situations can thus become the source of new miracles.
Several major figures of the Gotei 13 will have to face him, including Byakuya Kuchiki, Toshiro Hitsugaya, and Kenpachi Zaraki. This fight could allow the anime to showcase some of the most impressive techniques of these three characters.
Askin Nakk Le Vaar vs Ichigo's Allies
Askin can modify the lethal dose of a substance present in his opponent's body. An attack, blood, or even spiritual energy can become toxic as soon as he sufficiently analyzes its properties.
His confrontation is expected to highlight Yoruichi Shihōin, Kisuke Urahara, and several unexpected allies. After long fighting using his intelligence and inventions, Urahara might finally reveal one of his most anticipated techniques.
Jugram Haschwalth vs Uryu
Haschwalth is Yhwach's right-hand man and one of the Quincy most loyal to the Emperor. His power, The Balance, allows him to redistribute misfortune and damage suffered.
His opposition with Uryu is not limited to a simple duel. It represents a confrontation between absolute obedience and individual freedom. Haschwalth accepts to sacrifice his own desires to serve Yhwach, while Uryu seems to refuse to let his heritage determine his future.
The Return of Sosuke Aizen
One of the most anticipated elements of this final part concerns Sosuke Aizen.
Still imprisoned in Muken after his defeat against Ichigo, the former captain possesses exceptional spiritual energy and one of the most dangerous Zanpakutō in Bleach. His Kyōka Suigetsu can plunge those who have observed it into complete hypnosis, distorting their five senses.
Aizen does not, however, become a hero. He remains arrogant, unpredictable, and opposed to the order established by the Soul Society. However, the threat represented by Yhwach transcends their old rivalries.
The encounter between Aizen and Yhwach therefore promises a particularly interesting confrontation. Both seek to overcome the limits imposed by the world, but their conception of power is radically different. Aizen wants to rise above others by his own will, while Yhwach wishes to absorb the powers and destinies of those around him.
Will the anime change the ending of the manga?
The ending of the Bleach manga sparked many discussions upon its publication. Several readers particularly regretted the very fast pace of the last chapters and the lack of development given to certain fights.
The anime therefore provides an opportunity to complete this conclusion without necessarily altering the outcome.
Tite Kubo is officially credited as the original author and general supervisor of Thousand-Year Blood War. His participation allows the team to integrate elements that could not be fully developed in the original publication.

Tite Kubo participated in the selection of the Thousand-Year Blood War music by listening to the tracks from their demo phase. For this final part, the author particularly wanted an opening with enough impact to accompany the series' conclusion.
Do you need to have seen the first three parts?
It is essential to have watched the first three cours of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War before starting The Calamity.
The final part will directly resume the already engaged battles and is not expected to dedicate much time to recalling previous events. You should notably be familiar with:
- the origin of Ichigo's true powers;
- the relationship between Yhwach and the Quincy;
- the disappearance of the Soul King;

On July 25, 2026, Bleach will enter its ultimate battle. After more than twenty years of history, Ichigo Kurosaki will have to raise Zangetsu one last time to protect his loved ones and prevent Yhwach from creating a world where life and death would be but a single reality.
